Possibly San Diego's best falafel! Many other veg items available.

One of my favorites

Roxy's is a laid-back cafe with unusual decor and fast, friendly service. They have several vegetarian options on the menu, prices are reasonable, and the vegetarian chef's salad is to die for! It's worth going there for the salad if for nothing else!

not so great

I used to work across the street and I'd get the falafel w/ salad plate when desperate. The falafel was always overcooked and I didn't really care for the tahini sauce or the salad. They were nice enough to tell me that the soy cheese is not vegan, years ago and when I went back a few months ago. I don't remember any other vegan options and the tofu 'tease cake' is really bad. I had it twice years apart. I am not that picky but I had to toss it. It gives vegan food and tofu a bad name. Maybe they have fixed it by now but be warned. I don't think I'll go again when there are so many better places.

Great, but...

I love Roxy food. They also have great live entertainment. Be aware though- the soy cheese they use is not vegan.

Not so great in my opinion

I live a few blocks from Roxy and am Vegan and I don't bother to eat there ever. It's been so long so I don't remember much, but the food just does not seem so healthy and they market themselves as a healthy restaurant. Not a lot of vegan options. They use microwave ovens a lot. About the only thing I would eat there is the salad.

Excellent Mediteranian food, atmosphere

Roxy has excellent mediteranian food.

My favorites are the chef salad (without cheese), the bean soup (with unbuttered toast), and the felafel burger (no mayo). Their vegan tahini dressing is fabulous and the felafel is the best I've ever had anywhere. There is also a full bar.

Almost all the menu is vegetarian (except a few with chicken or fish) but most items have dairy; most can be made vegan on request. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, the service is great, reasonable prices and huge portions, and local entertainers often play live on Friday or Saturday nights.

Good, Homey Comfort-Food & Atmosphere...
Mostly veg menu, with many vegan options. The food is more diner-like than gourmet-quality, but it's an above-average value for the prices, & some dishes are unique & adventurous -- and not "adventurous" in a bad way! :-) HUGE portions and nice coffees & mixed-drinks, too. Indoor and outdoor dining; but some parts of the interior could use an overhaul. Popular with surfers grabbing a power-snack. They will fill you up, making you wish for more.
